Graduation Diary (two)

12 Aug

Plus minus 6.00am
"Hello, can I borrow your hair pin?"
This is what I first heard on my convocation day
"Erm, are you still sleeping?"
I blurly answered, yeap I still want to sleep.

It takes a whole 5 minutes to realize that I had overslept
Then come the shocking truth - I'm late for my convo!
I jumped of my bed
Scream from the hall way to the kitchen
"Why did no one wake me up!!!"

Then everything is done in a fast and blurish mode
This is what happened when I'm at a panic channel
I tend to forgot what I've done
I recalled mom ironing my robe
I recalled that I panicked and couldn't find hair pins
I called my friend to say that I don't have any hair pins
However I found them at the last minute
Dad speeds to Cyberjaya
That's the only time mom never complain about speeding

Once on campus
I rush to register and verify my student card again
The manager screams for graduates to line up
I saw my Johor friend lining for student card verification
I've signed something and received a keychain
although I've no idea what I'm signing for
I just simply follow the crowds

Separated from my friends
I dare not to leave my line
Espeacially when the manager is screaming nearby
Till now I'm still like a small kid
I'm afraid of screaming people

Nevertheless I've made friend with the fella sitting beside me
which also got separated from her friends
I forgot to ask for her name

After the long speeches
they finally start to distribute the scroll
There was a technical problem
that the graduate's photo and message
couldn't appear on the screen
"This moment is for you. Thank you, papa, mama and my brother"
didn't appear on the screen

I was slightly dissappointed
but when I hear the chancellor
word of congratulation
I was all cheer up

My brother told me that
I walk pass the stage too fast
This is probably true
as I couldn't get a good stage photo at walking position
my eyes are closing
Sigh, another dissappointment

I noticed that my friends' parents
looked pretty cool with their formal attire
as I never see them in formal attire

Friends rushed to find their missing parents
while I waiting for them to settle down
as I told my family to wait for me at the garden party

Once we claim our actual scroll
and snap a few photo with friends
We are then separated
Each going back home
Or queueing up to have their graduate photo taken

I try to call my family
as I receive a shocking sms
I don't remember the actual content
but the information is this:
We are starving,
couldn't find garden party
We are now going to putrajaya to eat

Wahh, they have left without me
I felt something stinging at my heart
All around me are graduates with friends and family and flowers
(Ok, I told my family not to buy flowers because they are expensive)
I only have my scroll

Not planning to wait my family to have lunch without me
I force my phone to make a call
Ignoring the network busy signal
Finally I've contacted them

Commanding them to speed back to campus
I know that I'm rude in some way
But I will definitely cry in the middle of the crowd
if I have to wait for another minute alone

I walk to the campus entrance with fast and furious steps
then I saw my old ex-housemate, ex-senior
Happy to see her
Too bad no camera
She gave me a gift
I was happy again

I don't recall what did I say
when I reunited with my family again
Did I say something rude?
All I know that I'm relief
and I had pizza for lunch

We took our family photo and my graduate portrait at the photo studio
Later we take our own family photo at our own house

then all of us take a long afternoon nap
It's has been a long day
