Graduation Diary (two)

12 Aug

Plus minus 6.00am
"Hello, can I borrow your hair pin?"
This is what I first heard on my convocation day
"Erm, are you still sleeping?"
I blurly answered, yeap I still want to sleep.

It takes a whole 5 minutes to realize that I had overslept
Then come the shocking truth - I'm late for my convo!
I jumped of my bed
Scream from the hall way to the kitchen
"Why did no one wake me up!!!"

Then everything is done in a fast and blurish mode
This is what happened when I'm at a panic channel
I tend to forgot what I've done
I recalled mom ironing my robe
I recalled that I panicked and couldn't find hair pins
I called my friend to say that I don't have any hair pins
However I found them at the last minute
Dad speeds to Cyberjaya
That's the only time mom never complain about speeding

Once on campus
I rush to register and verify my student card again
The manager screams for graduates to line up
I saw my Johor friend lining for student card verification
I've signed something and received a keychain
although I've no idea what I'm signing for
I just simply follow the crowds

Separated from my friends
I dare not to leave my line
Espeacially when the manager is screaming nearby
Till now I'm still like a small kid
I'm afraid of screaming people

Nevertheless I've made friend with the fella sitting beside me
which also got separated from her friends
I forgot to ask for her name

After the long speeches
they finally start to distribute the scroll
There was a technical problem
that the graduate's photo and message
couldn't appear on the screen
"This moment is for you. Thank you, papa, mama and my brother"
didn't appear on the screen

I was slightly dissappointed
but when I hear the chancellor
word of congratulation
I was all cheer up

My brother told me that
I walk pass the stage too fast
This is probably true
as I couldn't get a good stage photo at walking position
my eyes are closing
Sigh, another dissappointment

I noticed that my friends' parents
looked pretty cool with their formal attire
as I never see them in formal attire

Friends rushed to find their missing parents
while I waiting for them to settle down
as I told my family to wait for me at the garden party

Once we claim our actual scroll
and snap a few photo with friends
We are then separated
Each going back home
Or queueing up to have their graduate photo taken

I try to call my family
as I receive a shocking sms
I don't remember the actual content
but the information is this:
We are starving,
couldn't find garden party
We are now going to putrajaya to eat

Wahh, they have left without me
I felt something stinging at my heart
All around me are graduates with friends and family and flowers
(Ok, I told my family not to buy flowers because they are expensive)
I only have my scroll

Not planning to wait my family to have lunch without me
I force my phone to make a call
Ignoring the network busy signal
Finally I've contacted them

Commanding them to speed back to campus
I know that I'm rude in some way
But I will definitely cry in the middle of the crowd
if I have to wait for another minute alone

I walk to the campus entrance with fast and furious steps
then I saw my old ex-housemate, ex-senior
Happy to see her
Too bad no camera
She gave me a gift
I was happy again

I don't recall what did I say
when I reunited with my family again
Did I say something rude?
All I know that I'm relief
and I had pizza for lunch

We took our family photo and my graduate portrait at the photo studio
Later we take our own family photo at our own house

then all of us take a long afternoon nap
It's has been a long day

Graduation Diary (one)

10 Aug

Friends from Melacca, Johor and Taiping are coming...
Each person arrive at different time, so is busy busy and worry worry ..
Just managed to get two of them to my house safely, the third one found her way in all by herself (praise praise)
Dad teach the Melaccan friend how to drive to Cyberjaya
Because I still haven't pass my unofficial driving license (authorize by dad himself) :(
We pass through Kelana Jaya, Puchong and lastly Cyberjaya and then back again.

After a extremely enormous dinner, all guests settled themselves and it's time to zzz
While the guests are sound asleep, I found myself lay awake whole night
although all of them complaint that I set the air-cond temperature too low

11 Aug

Next morning, 6am, we had pulut with red bean for breakfast
but unfortunately I forgot to feed one of my guests
should have force feed her if this situation happen again.. wahahahahaha...

Then off we go for convo rehearsal
No traffic jam - good
Found parking straightaway - very good
Found the convo hall - cool we are genius

There we meet our campus-mate
It's has been a long time
Perhaps this is the last gathering for all of us
as each of us have a different path to take

Then come the convo briefing
Then I realised that this is not a rehearsal
because we don't have a chance to walk at the stage at all
They just tell us, follow the yellow cross (like follow yellow brick road from wizard of oz)

Later, we greatest challenge came
I realised that we, sadly graduates, do not learn how to queue
However, we blame the organizer for inconvenience
Around 3,000 graduates rush and squeeze in a small computer lab
Just to get their student card tested

I thanked my talented friends
We like an eel
slip through the crowd
and managed to squeeze to front line
Finally with all the pushing and squeezing
we all manage to tested our smart card
and came out of the computer lab
well and alive

Later we grab our invitation card (for parents)
and graduation robe with ease
compared with the previous one

Once all settled
Our stomach is grumbling
because it is almost 6 hours since our little stomach last fed
or probably doubled the amount of time for my poor hungry guest

It is around 1:30pm, Friday
We set off to the parking lot
We saw a disaster
We couldn't drive our car out
It is not because of double parking
It is because of nth parking
Cars are literally pack together in the small parking lot
There are no space at all
We are shocked
Our first reaction is to shot angry glances at the penjaga
What on earth is this?!!
We nearly eat them alive (hungry hungry...)
They told us to wait for the prayer to finish (half an hour time)
I mentally noted that never parked anywhere near surau

That moment I was amazed
My friend literally reversed out from the car park
Amazing skills
My idol

Back from Cyberjaya
Traffic jam at SS2
Traffic jam at the Sin Chew Jit Poh roundabout
Traffic jam at Jalan University - grrrr....

3pm
One of the guest drop off to bus stand to meet her family
We three wolf down the fried rice and ikan bilis (prepared by genius mom)
Remaining two guests waited for their family members
to fetch them to their respective hotel/rented house
One the family member lost their way

I can't recalled when all them found their place to stay
I can only recall that I ate too much japanese food
My family celebrate my convocation at Shogun
Argghh... my poor stomach
first too empty
now too full

Back to house
I quickly set off to prepare for bed
I'm sure that I can sleep soundly tonight
It is a quite a day
Good night zzz...
